Collin County had the fastest rate of total income growth last year among the largest 164 counties in the United States, according to a U.S. Department of Commerce report released Monday.
Total income in Collin County grew by 12.4 percent in 2007, according to the county compensation report by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis.
The national average was 5.2 percent in a year when inflation rose 4.1 percent, as measured by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Total income growth depends on population growth and income levels, and Collin County was already known as a top performer in both categories.
In addition to being one of the fastest-growing large counties in Texas, Collin County is also home to Plano, which is the wealthiest large city in the United States, according to a U.S. Census Bureau report earlier this year.
Nationally, according to the Friday report by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, average annual compensation per job in 2007 ranged from $41,520 in El Paso to $116,977 in Manhattan. |
