Description | PHOENIX – A former candidate for mayor of Phoenix has been arrested.
Jarrett Maupin, 21, who ran for mayor against current Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon last year was arrested Thursday afternoon by sheriff’s deputies on one count of false reporting to a law enforcement agency, which is a misdemeanor.
This comes after Maupin allegedly made claims to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office that his opponent may have broken the law.
An investigation reportedly determined Maupin lied about the allegation as well as lied about having proof of the alleged crime in his possession.
Maupin, who served on the Phoenix Union High School Board for 4 years, is currently at the Fourth Avenue Jail. |
