DescriptionOne of the safest political bets this campaign season will be betting that Gov. James Douglas receives the most votes in his bid for a fourth term. Yet those same gamblers might not be willing to put their money on Douglas as the winner.

If no candidate receives 50 percent of the votes, the Legislature decides the winner. Will that unique electorate rubber stamp the wishes of voters, or will they use the Democratic party majority to make Gaye Symington governor?

That question won't be answered for awhile so the best we can do is look at the horse race as it is unfolding
