DescriptionSam Page, Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, today released the following statement in response to the discovery by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder has been using taxpayer dollars to give undue bonuses to members of his campaign staff.

"I am not surprised at Peter Kinder’s actions." Page said. "We discovered early in the campaign that Kinder lacks a moral/ethical gene in his DNA.

"He is not ignoring the line and going over it; he doesn’t even know that a line exists. I have characterized Kinder as belonging to that small faction inside the Republican Party that started with Watergate. The real crime of that era was that some young people thought that the Watergate felons did not go to jail for what they did, but because they were caught. Today these misfits may control the Party, but not for long.

"I have spent enough time in the Missouri House of Representatives to know that Kinder is not a typical Republican. Many Republicans in the House are ashamed of Kinder," Page said. "I look forward to the day when the Republicans tear the reins of their Party from the hands of this small and miserable faction."
