Description | Republican congressional candidate Wayne Parker's campaign is questioning whether his opponent, Democrat Dr. Parker Griffith, exploited cancer patients for profit.
A previously sealed 1987 peer review of Griffith's work, released to the media by Parker's campaign Tuesday, accuses Griffith of giving his patients too little medicine so that he could make more money on protracted treatment.
Griffith, whose medical license is in good standing, denies the allegations, and the state has no record of any patient complaints against him.
Despite attacking Griffith in TV ads based on the hospital report, Parker acknowledged Wednesday that he took campaign money and once lobbied for Griffith's former partner, Dr. Dennis Olive, who was accused of the same negligence in the report. To make amends, Parker said, he donated the $2,300 given by Olive to the American Cancer Society. |
