Description | A former U.S. Army officer has entered the race for American Samoa's delegate to the U.S. Congress, Radio New Zealand International reports.
RNZI says Fualaau Rosie Tago-Lancaster will contest the November election. She will face veteran incumbent Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, a U.S. Army veteran himself from the Vietnam War era and long-time public official.
Also in the race is Aumua Amata Coleman, a Republican and daughter of the U.S. territory's first governor of Samoan ancestry. She has run before against Faleomavaega.
American Samoa, like other U.S. insular possessions, has a delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. The delegate cannot vote on the House floor, but can serve and vote in committees. |
