DescriptionSponsors of an initiative to make the King County executive and Metropolitan King County Council nonpartisan offices said Thursday they have turned in enough signatures to put the issue before voters.

The Initiative 26 campaign, championed by County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, R-Federal Way, said it submitted more than 80,000 signatures to the council clerk's office Tuesday.

If county election officials confirm that at least 52,817 registered voters signed the petition, voters will decide in the August primary election whether to put the charter amendment on the November ballot.
