DescriptionAsian stocks have fallen sharply after renewed worries about the U.S. financial system sent stocks tumbling on Wall Street.

In Tokyo, Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index plunged early Monday more than 3 percent. In Seoul, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index fell more than 2.5 percent. Markets in Australia and New Zealand also fell.

The drops follow a 1.6 percent decline in U.S. stocks Friday after the announcement of a Federal Reserve plan to alleviate a liquidity crisis at Bear Stearns (nyse: BSC - news - people ) touched off concerns about the severity of credit troubles in the world's largest economy.
