Description | On Wednesday a Senate committee is going to hear a good little pole attachment bill, which sounds innocuous. In truth, it's a pretty controversial bill pitting public utilities against telecommunications companies in a classic legislative battle.
Basically, the bill allows companies to attach their equipment to power poles and public utilities must allow them to for a price.
To no one's surprise, public utilities are hopping mad about it. We're told the bill will be hotly contested this session.
And we're told a leading proponent of the measure is Tulalip Rep. John McCoy while the leading opponent is Raymond Sen. Brian Hatfield. |
