DescriptionIn a conference call with reporters a short time ago, Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri said that some of the things former president Bill Clinton has said about Sen. Barack Obama in recent days have been "flat wrong" and "demeaning."

"He needs to be very careful with the truth ... this is not a time to play fast and loose with the facts," McCaskill said of Bill Clinton.

The first-term senator, who has endorsed Obama in his race against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for their party's presidential nomination, said Bill Clinton has "shaded things and ... tried to manipulate facts in a way that is patently unfair."

You can hear McCaskill here. The clip is about 1:20 long (you may need to click play twice to get it going):

McCaskill, along with Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, was on a conference call set up by the Obama campaign. Among the things the Obama team has objected to in recent days were comments from Bill Clinton that Obama hadn't been as strong an opponent of the Iraq War as the senator has portrayed himself to be, and comments from both Clintons that portrayed Obama as having endorsed the ideas that Republicans championed in recent years.

During the conference call, McCaskill also made the case that while Sen. Clinton would draw passionate opposition from Republicans in a general election -- possibly losing the White House because of that -- Obama stands a good chance of winning in states that Democrats have lost in recent presidential elections.

You can hear her make that argument here. This clip is also about 1:20 long (you may need to click play twice to get it going):
