DescriptionFast-growing Nevada had hoped to play an influential part in selecting the nominees for this year's presidential election, but with the state's caucuses a week away, Republican voters are not seeing many candidates. "I don't understand why we don't have frenzied campaigning by the actual presidential candidates," said Sue Lowden, chairman of Nevada's Republican Party. "We have more delegates (to the party's nominating convention) at stake than South Carolina and Michigan."

"No one really knows what a win in Nevada will get you," said Ken Fernandez, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. "It has never really happened where Nevada is a contender."
