Description | New sneakers? Check. SpongeBob SquarePants lunchbox? Check. Bulletproof backpack? Check. AK-47 assault rifle (for self-defense only)? Check!
OK, so we’re not actually arming our kids with automatic weapons as part of the back-to-school checklist. (Yet.) But item No. 3 in that list, the bullet-proof backpack, is apparently the hot new accessory, thanks to two guys from Danvers who invented and are marketing the $175 item.
Mike Pelonzi and Joe Curran told the Herald that they’ve had a phenomenal response to the backpack, having sold close to 1,000 in one weekend. And why wouldn’t they? It has apparently been tested to deflect most bullets as well as knives, machetes and hatchets. Presumably not all at once. |
