DescriptionBill Richardson, the governor of New Mexico and a Democratic presidential hopeful, used the word "maricón," a Spanish anti-gay epithet, when appearing on the now defunct but soon to be resurrected Don Imus radio show, Gaynewswatch.com reported. After telling the governor that his sidekick Bernard McGuirk questioned whether he was really Hispanic, or simply claiming to be for political advantage, Imus asked Richardson whether he considered McGuirk "a maricón." Richardson replied, "Yo creo que Bernardo, sí - es un maricón si él piensa que yo no soy hispano" which translates as, "I believe that Bernard, yes - he's a faggot if he thinks that I am not Hispanic." 'Why do you want to embarrass me like that?'" Ocamb wrote
