Description | Berlin- Prince Wilhelm-Karl of Prussia, the last living grandson of the last kaiser, has died at the age of 85, a spokesman for the house of Hohenzollern said in Berlin Wednesday. Wilhelm-Karl, who died in Holzmindern, northern Germany on Monday, devoted much of his life to the Knights of St John in Germany.
The Order of St John, an aristocratic Protestant charity that provides ambulance and first-aid services, said in an obituary that he had devoted "nearly half a century" to the order "amid deep social change" as its protector and in other offices.
He joined the order in 1944. His grandfather, Wilhelm II of Germany, abdicated as kaiser in 1918 and died in 1941. |
