Description | WHEREAS, Tennessee has been the birthplace of a host of truly legendary musicians, songwriters and singers like Chet Atkins, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, and Tina Turner, who have won international acclaim and national accolades; and
WHEREAS, another native son of Tennessee has hit the top of the charts and has gained a tremendous fan following that spans the globe: Mr. Justin Timberlake of Shelby County, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, Justin Randall Timberlake was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on January 31, 1981, the son of Randall Timberlake and Lynn Bomar Timberlake Harless, and was raised in the Shelby County community of Millington; and
WHEREAS, showcasing his talents at a tender age, young Justin would first garner national attention as a contestant on the television show Star Search, performing country songs as “Justin Randall” before gaining a real taste of fame as a member of The Mickey Mouse Club television program in 1993; and
WHEREAS, winning the heart of many a young fan with his dance moves and stunning vocal abilities, Justin performed alongside future pop superstars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and future bandmate JC Chasez before the show ended in 1995; and
WHEREAS, without missing a beat, Justin Timberlake quickly gained international musical stardom as the lead singer of all-boy band ‘N Sync, rocking the US music charts with such hits as “I Want You Back” and “Bye Bye Bye”; and |
