Description | Easton Express-Times article.
An excerpt...
" A Pennsylvania anti-smoking activist says it's only a matter of time before the Keystone State joins its neighbors in making the no-smoking trend at eateries into law.
As in past legislative sessions, separate smoking-ban bills are pending before the state Senate and House. This time the movement has the backing of Gov. Ed Rendell, who in January announced a health care plan that includes making workplaces, restaurants and bars smoke-free.
Pennsylvania is also under pressure from indoor smoking bans adopted in recent years in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Ohio and much of West Virginia and Maryland, Smokefree Pennsylvania Executive Director Bill Godshall said.
"Pennsylvania will be an island" without change, Godshall said from his Pittsburgh office. "We'll be the ashtray of the Northeast." |
