Description | Mayor Richard M. Daley's re-election bid was endorsed Monday by U.S. Rep. Luis Guitierrez, a one-time critic who had considered trying to unseat Daley.
Gutierrez cited the construction of new schools, an increase in qualified teachers and falling dropout rates as the reasons, as well as Daley's support for immigration reform.
While he and Daley "have not always agreed, I've never questioned his love for our city or desire to help all of our communities," Gutierrez said.
Last year, Gutierrez contemplated a possible run for mayor himself, pointing to corruption scandals that have swirled around the Daley administration. |
