Newly elected Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner thinks the time may have come for a draft. Not for military service, but for service at the polls on Election Day.

Recently Ms. Brunner told county election officials that she wants to give them the option of effectively ordering people to help at the polls and to participate in two days of training prior.

Under the influence of her previous career as a trial judge, she says the service would be akin to jury duty. She proposes giving a pass to those who say they aren't able to serve, as well as to those who put up a royal fuss. Ms. Brunner understands that if people really don't want to assist, they can do a lot of damage.
