Description | Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, are making a whirlwind trip to the city this weekend to get a big slice of Philadelphia culture.
The royal couple was to arrive Friday afternoon and spend about 24 hours visiting everything from historic sites to modern neighborhoods, fine arts patrons to urban painters, gospel hymns to classical music.
"Their Royal Highnesses are going to experience a very broad cross-section of Philadelphia," said Oliver St. Clair Franklin, the city's honorary British consul.
On Saturday morning, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were expected to be welcomed by Mayor John F. Street and Gov. Ed Rendell at Independence Hall. The building is where American colonists severed their ties with Britain in 1776.
