Description | Among the 31 people who applied for open Columbus City Council seats is a lifelong Democrat who last ran for the council in 1949.
There are at least two Republicans who hope the all-Democrat council will choose them as replacements for the two members who are resigning. And there’s a junior-high principal, the Ohio State University student government president and a blind man who wants to give the disabled community a voice in city government.
Council President Pro-Tem Michael C. Mentel said the five remaining members of the council will review the applications this week, in anticipation of interviews next week.
Council members could choose replacements for resigning Council President Matt Habash and Councilwoman Mary Jo Hudson by late next week, Mentel said. |
