DescriptionThe Congressional District 8 independent candidate says the animosity between Gabrielle Giffords and Randy Graf is so strong, it's driven him from appearing at any more debates.

Jay Quick, who owns a local metal shop, says he is not dropping out of the race. But he also doesn't have any interest in engaging in the two remaining debates, which he calls "an opportunity for the two major candidates to attack one another and bring up old grudges going back to the days they served in the Arizona Legislature."

Quick took part only in the first of six debates in the race, which was sponsored by the Arizona Daily Star last week.

He described the experience as unpleasant and said the tension between the candidates was palpable.
