Description | Washington -- If Ohio voters fire him next week, Republican Sen. Mike DeWine warns, the consequences will be stark.
At stake, he says, are hundreds of millions of dollars he helps direct to Ohio each year as a member of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. Senate newcomers rarely get a seat on the panel that doles out federal dollars, notes DeWine, who waited six years for the chance.
"We have to have somebody on that committee to fight for those dollars," says DeWine. "It comes down to jobs, because this money translates into jobs."
