Description | Democratic candidates still are struggling for name-recognition, the latest USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup poll shows.
Thirty-two percent of the Democrats and Democratic leaners polled have never heard of Sen. John Kerry; 17 percent have never heard of Sen. Joe Lieberman; 42 percent haven't heard of Sen. John Edwards; and the same percentage "never heard of" former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, despite recent publicity about his fund-raising prowess and rise in the polls.
Those polled would be most likely to support Lieberman for the presidential nomination, with Rep. Richard Gephardt coming in second and Dean third.
The poll also showed that a lot of people aren't paying attention yet. Sixty-five percent of Democrats polled either say they have been following the race "not too closely" or "not at all."
