Description | URBANA -- Yesterday, two state representatives visited the Champaign/Urbana campus of the University of Illinois to deliver a letter demanding that the university's board of trustees rework the school's budget plan.
On Tuesday morning, State Representatives Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) and Bill Mitchell (R-Forsyth), accompanied by a local television news camera, entered the governmental relations center on behalf of twenty-five state legislators who agree the U of I's Board of Trustees have made poor decisions on allocating funds, precious in a cash-stapped state budget, for the upcoming year.
"The school admits that they will save only $600,000 by cutting 506 classes. But they also admit spending $400,000 in new expenditures to offer same sex health benefits to the U of I employees," Representative Rose, a U of I alumni, said.
