Description | Gov. Ernie Fletcher asked his senior staff to compile a list of possible replacements for Lt. Gov. Steve Pence on his 2007 ticket, a spokesman said.
Fletcher will not name the replacement until next week at the earliest, said Brett Hall, the governor’s communications director. Hall said Fletcher, who left today for a vacation in Florida, wants to make any announcement in person.
In the coming weeks, Fletcher also will be looking for a replacement for Pence as Justice and Public Safety Cabinet secretary.
Pence announced this morning that he is not running for re-election with Fletcher next year and is stepping down from the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.
He will remain as lieutenant governor until the end of his term. |
