Description | Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. yesterday criticized Mexican-flag waving protesters who have taken to the streets of some cities to demonstrate against tough immigration reforms.
He's been "particularly incensed" by people demonstrating in cities nationwide, Goode said. Many of the protesters "are here illegally, and they are flying the Mexican flag," Goode, R-5th, told reporters at a news conference on Capitol Hill.
"I say if you are here illegally, and you want to fly the Mexican flag, go to Mexico to fly the Mexican flag!"
Last year, Goode advocated building a sophisticated security fence along the entire border with Mexico. The House endorsed a whittled-down version, for almost 700 miles of fencing in five areas along the border, when it passed legislation in December to tighten border security.
