Description | A Loyola student found dead in his dorm room Tuesday died of meningitis, a spokesperson for the university said Wednesday in a statement.
Trent Fucich was a junior in Arts and Sciences and had been experiencing cold and flu symptoms prior to his death, according to Loyola officials.
Loyola officials said the medical examiner had not yet determined the precise type of meningitis but that preventive medicine was being offered to anyone who had close contact with Fucich in case the meningitis turns out to be bacterial.
“We are following the recommendation of the protocol of the Centers for Disease Control and offering a single dose of aprofloxacin to those who have been in contact with Trent,” said Loyola spokesperson James Shields.
