Description | There was no love lost between the two Democrats running for state attorney general during a Valentine's Day candidate forum this morning.
During a joint appearance at the Madison Club, Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk pronounced herself more "electable" than Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager.
Falk warned that unless she won the September primary, Democrats could lose the AG's office - and with it, control over issues ranging from legalizing carrying concealed weapons to protecting abortion rights.
"Because of the political vulnerability of the incumbent," an apparent reference to Lautenschlager's 2004 drunken driving conviction, "Democratic leaders have come to me and said, 'Falk, you've got to keep that office in Democratic hands,'" she said. |
