Description | Outgoing Prime Minister Paul Martin said he is proud of what his Liberal government accomplished in 18 months, and that Canadians have "every reason to be" optimistic.
Looked tired but relaxed on Thursday as he met with reporters for his last time as prime minister, Martin boasted that he's leaving Canada with one of the strongest economies in the world.
"We leave a country in very strong economic shape, ... a country that clearly has the wind in its sails. Canadians are optimistic, with every reason to be so."
He said that in a very short time he was able to reach major agreements with the provinces to create a national child-care program and revitalize the health-care system.
He also highlighted his deal with cities and aboriginals. |
