DescriptionSt. Louis Business Journal - 10:08 AM CST Tuesday

A statewide poll recently found more than two-thirds of voters in Missouri are in favor of the Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative.

The initiative is a proposed state constitutional amendment designed to ensure that any stem cell research permitted under federal law will be allowed in Missouri. The poll found that 68 percent of Missourians voted in favor and about 30 percent voted against.

The poll was designed and overseen by Republican pollster Fred Steeper and Market Strategies, a national polling firm.

Several organizations have voiced their support of the Missouri initiative. Most recently, the Alliance for Stem Cell Research, a national nonprofit working to advance the field of stem cell research, announced its support.
