Description | HARRISBURG, Pa. - Plaintiffs' lawyers and scientists who worked on the federal "intelligent design" trial say they have been told that a ruling in the landmark case will be handed down Tuesday.
Judge John E. Jones III's response to six weeks of testimony could determine whether the concept — which attributes the origin of life and the emergence of highly complex life forms to an unidentified intelligent force — can be mentioned in public school science classes.
An e-mailed advisory from the plantiffs said "we have official word from the court" that Jones' opinion would be filed on Tuesday. The clerk's office for U.S. District Court in Harrisburg declined to comment on the timing for the filing, other than to say it was expected soon. |
