ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE
Drew Pritt of Warren formally announced Friday his bid for the Democratic nomination for state government’s No. 2 executive post by pledging to protect a woman’s right to choose whether to have an abortion.
Through the end of September, Pritt reported total campaign contributions of $8,075. Two other Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor, former Rep. Mike Hathorn of Huntsville and Sen. Tim Wooldridge of Paragould, reported raising more than $200,000 each.
He’s acknowledged that he’s been in trouble with the law several times for writing hot checks but said he made good on his debts and learned his lesson.
Pritt faced felony charges in Bradley and Drew counties in 1999 and 2000, respectively, but made restitution, and the charges were dropped. He also said he was arrested once in Jonesboro in a similar case, around the same time, and was “arrested or detained for a few days” in West Virginia in a check-writing case. |
