Description | The coming Liberal caucus retreat in Regina will be a "helpful step" toward quelling alienation in Western Canada, says federal Finance Minister Ralph Goodale.
The federal Liberal caucus will meet at the Delta Hotel in Regina from August 22 to 25, in what will be the first time Liberal MPs have been together since June. The cabinet will meet right after that, for two days, in Winnipeg.
"It's an important opportunity for the caucus to learn more about Saskatchewan and to connect better with Saskatchewan people, so I hope it will be a good exchange going both ways," Goodale said, appearing on CTV's Question Period.
Goodale, who is Saskatchewan's lone Liberal MP, makes his home in Regina.
"I think (western voters) care about how well their national government understands them, whether we are paying attention, whether we get the issues that western Canadians are most interested in." |
