DescriptionAlthough he has yet to announce his re-election bid, U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson is putting together a campaign team.

Paul Johnson, a national political strategist who has managed successful Democratic campaigns for Bob Kerrey and Mike Fahey, has agreed to oversee Nelson's campaign, said David DiMartino, Nelson's spokesman.

"He's not going to be the campaign manager. He's going to oversee the whole operation," said DiMartino.

Does this mean Nelson, who has a $1.5 million war chest, has decided to run?

Not necessarily, DiMartino said.

"I think it's an indication that he's taking the right steps, and, if he decides to run, he'll have the right team in place," DiMartino said.
