Description | Spartanburg political player Karen Floyd will seek the Republican nomination for state superintendent of education, according to an announcement at the county Republican Party executive committee meeting Monday.
Floyd, 42, will announce her candidacy Wednesday, according to party member June Bond. Bond spoke for Floyd, saying the former County Council chairwoman planned to kick off her candidacy with a formal announcement.
Floyd did not appear at the committee meeting.
Floyd will declare her candidacy at Pine Street elementary just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to Bond. Then she will travel the state, attending rallies in Liberty, Columbia, McClellanville and Florence.
