Description | Congressman Tom Tancredo's dust-up with Karl Rove, who told him never to darken the doorstep of the White House, is well-known. But the Littleton Republican tells The New Republic he's also been berated by Rep. Tom DeLay, a Republican so feared he's nicknamed "The Hammer."
After Tancredo's political action committee, Team America, helped fund Republican primary challenges to two pro-immigration GOP colleagues, he received what the magazine called a "fierce dressing down."
"DeLay called me in and said, 'You're finished, kaput. You cannot think of making a career in this place.' " Getting cross-ways with DeLay can be a career killer, but Tancredo seems unphased. "I'll never get a committee chair, I'll never be a subcommittee chair, whip team member, cheering squad ... I will never be any of those things." |
