| Description | South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of a lesbian couple who want their union recognized as a marriage.
The ruling does not automatically allow gay marriage, but is a giant step in that direction.
The court, in a majority decision, declared that under the Constitution the common law concept of marriage must to be developed to embrace same-sex partners. |
