Description | Tim James, one of former Gov. Fob James' sons, is considering making another run for governor in 2006.
"We're watching it very closely and will make a decision next year," James said in an interview.
James, a Greenville businessman, worked in his father's campaigns for governor, but had never run for public office until he jumped into the 2002 Republican primary for governor. Bob Riley won that primary with 73 percent of the vote. Then-Lt. Gov. Steve Windom was second with 18 percent and James third with 9 percent.
Windom said he has no interest in another race in 2006. "I am enjoying being a recovered politician," he said.
Windom, who now works as a lobbyist in Montgomery, said he will support Riley in 2006, if Riley decides to seek another term. "I think he is doing a wonderful job," Windom said. |
