Description | ndiana Republican Attorney General Steve Carter won a second term Tuesday, beating Democratic challenger Joe Hogsett.
Carter ran largely on the strength of a popular program he instituted that lets Hoosiers sign up for a do-not-call list, allowing them to avoid most telemarketers.
Since the list took effect in January 2002, 3.6 million phone numbers have been registered.
Carter said two of his priorities in the next term would be starting a do-not-fax list and working with Internet providers to reduce unwanted e-mails. He also pledged to focus on public corruption. |
