"Kevin Raye is a freak. Mike Michaud is an even bigger freak and maybe the last of his kind.
Raye and Michaud are running for Congress in Maine's 2nd District, but that hardly makes them oddballs. So many people in the northern two-thirds of the state share similar ambitions that the candidates have to be stacked on pallets and delivered to debates in pulp trucks. There are four Republicans (including Raye) and six Democrats (including Michaud) in the race. No independents have officially announced yet, but nobody would be surprised to encounter somebody gathering signatures for the nominee of the Vegetable Rights Coalition for Cheaper Illegal Medications. Well, maybe a little surprised."
