| Description | After grappling with several proposals to make Florida's constitution more difficult for voters to amend, the Legislature this year could agree on only one: requiring petition-gatherers to submit their 600,000 or so signatures some 275 days before the election instead of 90.
But even that relatively modest change - incorporated into Amendment 2 on the November ballot - has drawn the ire of a coalition of public interest groups. The coalition announced Tuesday that it is organizing "Hands Off Florida," an effort to fight what one member called an "insidious" amendment. |
