Description | The Labor Day discussion itself clarified what banner the Keyes' campaign is flying under. It also gave me the reason to excuse myself from working as the campaign's coalitions director.
I signed on to the Keyes' campaign to help get a conservative, articulate candidate elected as our next U.S. Senator. Keyes made it clear Monday night his campaign strategy was to hoist the fundamental or orthodox Christian belief system as the campaign's political standard, making Christianity an issue.
That's when it became clear to me that work on this campaign would be futile, because in our contemporary American culture, a political campaign with the purpose of promoting Christianity will not win. Christianity never has and never will win a popularity contest. |
