Description | Are you ready for some -- politics? Republican candidate for governor Mitch Daniels used the anticipation of the Indianapolis Colts' season opener Thursday to pitch the first specific funding plan to help keep the team in Indiana.
A plan to raise money from Colts license plates would be a drop in the bucket as the city considers subsidies topping $10 million annually to the team, as well as a stadium that would cost $450 million.
But after two years of debates over the use of public money on professional sports franchises, Daniels said his plan includes a key factor: It is voluntary. |
