Description | Vero Beach millionaire Jeffrey Saull, father of a popular property tax initiative and husband of Republican senatorial campaign dropout Karen Saull, said Thursday he plans to run for governor in 2006.
Saull, 56, thrust himself onto the Florida political scene this year when he started a petition campaign to double the state's $25,000 homestead property tax exemption.
With Saull family members contributing more than $2.2 million, the campaign collected more than 700,000 voter signatures in support of putting the measure on the Nov. 2 ballot. But the state Supreme Court struck it down in July, ruling that the question was unconstitutionally misleading.
