Description | AUSTIN – School finance is the most daunting public policy issue Gov. Rick Perry has tackled in his four years as governor – one that flummoxed his two immediate predecessors.
When the Senate tossed in the towel on finding a solution Friday, it landed like a political millstone around the governor's neck, political observers said.
"He promised to fix it. It's on his watch," said Michael Boone, a Dallas lawyer active in the special legislative session due to end Wednesday. Mr. Boone said the political significance of resolving the funding quandary couldn't be overstated. "It's huge." |
