Description | Congressional candidate Tom Gallagher raised $415,000 for his race against Republican Jon Porter in the 13 days between announcing his campaign and the end of the federal fund-raising quarter.
Gallagher will make his first report with the Federal Election Commission on April 15 for the quarter, which ended March 31. He put $200,000 of his own money into the race and raised at least $215,000 from individuals and political action committees since he announced his bid March 18.
"It's kind of humbling because a lot of people have reached out to support me," said Gallagher, a Democrat and former chief executive officer of Park Place Entertainment, now Caesars Entertainment.
Gallagher said he made an initial promise to personally match whatever he was able to raise before the quarter ended, but he insists he does not plan to try to "buy the election."
