Parent About Website
Answer To preserve the purpose of this site as an open, multipartisan political forum, censorship is kept very rare. However there are a few exceptions:

* Obscene Language - we are even a bit tolerant of this sometimes, but please keep the obscenities out as much as possible. We do have underage readers and members, and we COULD be held reponsible to local community obscenity laws.

* Private Communications - the purpose of this site is for a community forum, not a personal one. Messages which are not targeted to the audience in general may be removed. Prime examples of this are messages asking other specific people about emails they have sent or received, or instant messaging questions or invites. Those services are the proper channels for private communication themselves.

* Copyrighted Materials - as with the News or other sections of the site, posting full-length copyrighted works is illegal. Fair use laws allow a SMALL fragment of a copyrighted work to be used in some cases. Links to the work online are appropriate.

-All US Government documents are in the public domain.
-Publications prior to 1923 are in the public domain.
-Since 1989, people no longer need to copyright their works. These works are copyrighted just by being created.
-All works between 1923-89 need to have a copyright logo listed, or they are not protected.
