Description | A Northern Interior riding which runs from Bowron Lakes and Cariboo Mountains Provincial Parks in the east to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park in the west.
This riding, in Cariboo Regional District, includes Quesnel, Wells and Nazko as well as 11 native reserves.
The lumber industry has been a prime factor in the growth of the region, as well as forest products manufacturing.
Tourism includes the historic gold-mining towns of Barkerville and Wells east of Quesnel; fishing on the Blackwater River or Quesnel Lake and canoeing through Bowron Lakes Provincial Park.
The aboriginal population was 12% in 2006 census.
In 2008 redistribution, kept 88% of riding; added 4% Cariboo South. |
