Description |
The riding takes in area in the central part of Vancouver and is bounded by West 4th Avenue/West 6th Avenue/West 2nd Avenue in the north; by Main Street in the east; by West 33rd Avenue/Cambie Street/West 29th Avenue/Midlothian Avenue/East 33rd Avenue in south and by Highway 99/16th Avenue/Airbus Street in the west.
It includes wealthy Shaughnessy and high density Fairview. Vancouver General Hospital, B.C. Children's Hospital and B.C. Women's Hospital are all in riding.
In the 2006 census, the visible minority population was 28%; 15% of which was Chinese.
Renters exceeded owners, 58% to 42%; 45.5% had university degrees which is third highest in B.C..
In the 2008 redistribution, kept 90% of the riding; added 3% of Vancouver-Kensington.
