This riding is made up of the oldest and southern-most quadrant of Burnaby.
It runs between Imperial Street/Mayfield Street in the north and Fraser River/Fenwick Street in the south; between 10 Avenue/4 Street in the east and Boundary Road, border with Vancouver, in the west.
Burnaby Correctional Centre for Women and New Haven Correctional Centre are in the riding.
In 2006 census, immigration population was 53%; 23% gave Chinese as mother tongue.
Visible minority population was 59% - 26% Chinese, 11% South Asian and 6.6% Filipino.
In 2008 redistribution, kept only 65% of the riding; added 18% Burnaby-Willingdon.
